Matthew's Gospel; Benedict XVI Introduction to Matthew:
To tell the truth, it is almost impossible to paint a complete picture of Matthew because the information we have of him is scarce and fragmentary. What we can do, however, is to outline not so much his biography as, rather, the profile of him that the Gospel conveys. Read Matthew's Gospel through the artwork created over the ages.

Spain, walking the St. James Way
Santo Domingo de la Calzada Santo Domingo de la Calzada is a municipality in La Rioja, Spain, situated on the banks of the Oja River. In memory of my wife's passing I begin the Way of Saint James. To signify the day, I walked around the old cathedral looking for a crevice on the old walls. Finally found one and into it I deposited a medallion engraved with our family names, asking for God's blessings. The coin fell into the crevice and made a jingling sound, like dropping a coin into a toy bank. This medallion was hidden in five key locations on the Way of Saint James. These are my notes, made each day, as I walked 500 miles through historical Spain.
